The Sejmik of the Voivodeship is the decision making and controlling body  of the voivodeship with a 4-year term of office, starting from the date of the election. The Sejmik of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship consists of 51 councillors elected in direct elections. The rules and the order of the election to the Sejmik are contained in the relevant law concerning self-governance.
